Last updated: July 20, 2026
BrightPen OPC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the School Auto mobile application (the
"App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your
information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
a. Information You and Your Driver Provide
-
Account Information: Your name and mobile phone number when you create
an account or are invited by your driver.
-
Child & Rider Information: Your child's name, assigned vehicle,
route, and stop. This information is provided by parents to link a child to a ride.
-
Vehicle & Route Details: Vehicle, route, and stop information
entered by drivers to operate their ride.
b. Information Collected Automatically
-
Location Data: Real-time vehicle location is collected from the
driver's device during an active trip to show parents the live map and ETA. We do not
collect parents' background location.
-
Push Notifications: We use OneSignal to deliver ETA, stop, and pick-up
/ drop alerts. Notification delivery data may include device identifiers and
notification status.
-
Maps: Map tiles and routing are provided by Mapbox, which may receive
approximate vehicle location required to render the map.
-
Device & Crash Data: We use Sentry to collect crash reports and
performance traces. This may include device model, operating system version, app
version, and stack traces. We configure Sentry to avoid collecting personally
identifiable information such as passwords, OTPs, or photos.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
-
Show parents the real-time location of their child's vehicle and estimated arrival.
- Send pick-up, drop, ETA, and stop alerts to parents and drivers.
- Let drivers follow their route and confirm stops.
- Monitor app stability and performance through crash reporting.
- Respond to your inquiries and provide support.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information with:
-
Service Providers: Third parties that help us operate the App,
including OneSignal (push notifications), Mapbox (maps), Sentry (crash reporting), and
cloud infrastructure providers for data storage.
-
Drivers: The driver whose vehicle your child rides in may view ride and
stop information for the children on their vehicle, in order to operate the route.
-
Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process,
or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the
safety of others.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure cloud servers with appropriate access controls and
encryption. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your
information. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot
guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to
provide the service. Live location data is only processed during an active trip. If you
delete your account, we will delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except
where we are required to retain certain information by law.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your personal data.
- Object to or restrict the processing of your data.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at
hello@brightpenopc.com.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is designed for parents and drivers — not for children to use directly. The App
references information about children (such as name, vehicle, and stop) so that parents
can supervise their rides. This information is provided by parents, not collected directly
from children. We do not knowingly collect
personal information directly from children. If you believe a child's information has been
provided in error, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Third-Party Links
The App and this site may contain links to third-party websites or services, including the
App Store and Google Play. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third
parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal
information.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by
posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your
continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
